Systems administrator & IT manager from Germany - professionally and personally buried deep in IT.

During the day I manage networks, servers and services to keep things running. In the evenings I do pretty much the same, just for myself, with a bit more freedom and considerably more self-inflicted downtime. 🤡

The Homelab#

At home, a Proxmox cluster hosts among other things: Jellyfin, Immich, Vaultwarden, Paperless-NGX, Forgejo, Home Assistant and quite a bit more that I’ll probably document at some point.

I’m interested in everything around homelab, self-hosting, smart home and networking.

Why this blog?#

First, my memory. I’ve sat in front of problems too many times that I’d already solved a year ago with no recollection of how. That changes now.

Second, giving back. I benefit daily from other people’s blogs, guides and community posts. It would be unfair not to contribute something in return.

What you’ll find here: homelab projects, smart home, self-hosted services, networking and whatever else catches my attention. The content is aimed at people who know what they’re doing or at least make it look that way. 😅

When I’m not staring at monitors#

I’m probably out with my dog 🐕, hiking somewhere in nature or holding a camera. I also enjoy gaming, though usually only when the cluster is stable, which admittedly doesn’t happen as often as I’d like. 🎮
